Free Online Hearing Check: Test Your Hearing in 10 Minutes

You can check your hearing online in about 10 minutes with the free EarDoc hearing screener. You need headphones or earphones and a quiet room. It tells you whether your hearing is likely normal or whether it is time to talk to an audiologist. It is a screening, not a diagnosis.

How it works

  1. Put on headphones or earphones and find a quiet room.
  2. Set your volume when the screener asks.
  3. Listen to tones in each ear and answer whether you hear them.
  4. Enter your name and email to see your result. We ask for this so we can send you the full report and follow up if your result suggests a hearing loss.

What an online check cannot tell you

It cannot see inside your ear, so it will not pick up earwax, infections or fluid, and it cannot measure the exact type or degree of hearing loss. If your result suggests a hearing loss, talk to an audiologist before buying any hearing aid. If you have sudden hearing loss in one ear, see a doctor or audiologist within 48 hours.

What to do with your result

  1. Result looks normal: re-check every year or two.
  2. Result suggests a hearing loss: book a free 30 minute call with an audiologist to talk through it, or book a full hearing test at a NeuroAudiology Australia clinic in Sydney.
  3. Ready to try hearing aids: trial premium hearing aids at home free for 21 days.

Frequently asked questions

Can I test my hearing online for free?

Yes. The EarDoc online hearing screener is free and takes about 10 minutes with headphones or earphones. You enter your contact details at the end to receive your result and report.

How accurate are online hearing tests?

They are useful for spotting a likely hearing loss, but they are a screening, not a diagnosis. Results depend on your headphones, volume and background noise. Only a diagnostic hearing test with an audiologist measures your hearing properly.

Can I get hearing aids based on an online hearing test?

Not on its own. An audiologist needs your hearing history and a proper assessment to choose and set hearing aids safely. The online check is the first step to that conversation.
