The Hearing Services Program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide eligible individuals with access to free or subsidised hearing services and devices. The program aims to support early identification and management of hearing loss through comprehensive assessments, fitting of hearing aids, and ongoing support. By improving access to hearing healthcare, the program aims to enhance communication, social participation, and overall wellbeing. Through accredited providers, the program helps reduce the impact of hearing loss and promotes better quality of life across the lifespan.
Services included in the Program
- Hearing assessments by accredited providers
- Fitting of fully subsidised hearing aids (basic models)
- Fitting of partially subsidised hearing aids: more advanced models however you will be provided with a contribution from the Government to reduce the out of pocket cost.
- Ongoing hearing aid maintenance and batteries (for a small annual fee)
- Advice and rehabilitation services
- Support for managing hearing loss (e.g., communication strategies)

- Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card Holders
- Department of Veterans Affairs White Card Holders that are Hearing Specific
- Members of the Australian Defence Force
- Dependant of Concession Card Holders
- Referred by the Disability Employment Services (Disability Management Services) Program
